Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (fed or unfed, room temperature)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • Optional: Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your Pampered Chef Stoneware Bar Pan with parchment paper (optional).
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla and sourdough starter.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Combine Wet & Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.
  5. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
  6. Scoop Dough: Use a Pampered Chef Cookie Scoop to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Sprinkle Sea Salt: Add a light sprinkle of sea salt on top of each cookie.
  8. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden and centers are slightly soft.
  9. Cool: Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack
