About me.

Thank you for visiting my blog, my name is Jennifer Markle. I am married to my wonderful husband Jared and we have two boys, Hunter & Thorsen. Jared and I have been together since 2001 and married in December of 2009. I am thankful every day for Jared and my boys. They make my world go round. I love being a wife and mother. 

I came up with the Blog name Savory Savage for several reasons. My maiden name is Savage and both of my boys share Savage as their middle name. I have always intended to use Savage as a pen name if I ever write a book. When I decided to start my blog Jared and I were tossing around names and we both loved Savory Savage. Savory because it represents my style of cooking, and it also means wholesome. I am in love with the name and very excited to share recipes and articles with you.

Writing has always been a passion of mine. Around age 8/9 I would sit at our Macintosh and try to write my own version of Encyclopedia Brown novels. The Macintosh we had was the original Apple computer with a black screen and green writing where the cursor would blink green as you type your next letter. I learned to type on that computer using a game where letters fell and you had to keep up with them as they continued to fall faster. I wish I still had those drafts and that computer! Who knew Apple would become such a huge part of everyone’s life? Also that I would still be using a Mac over 35 years later!

My writing these days consists mostly of journaling, I am an avid journaler and try to start my day writing. I like to write what’s on my mind, it helps me to process what I am feeling. I also write my prayers for family and friends and things I am thankful for. Writing centers me. If you have never journaled before I encourage you to!
